The most useful presentation automation turns approved content into pages that remain easy to change. A topic, an outline, a generated file and an accepted presentation are different states. “Generated” does not mean ready to present. This guide uses a fictional library reviewing a trial of longer opening hours to cover outline development, deck production and visual polish. The example inputs are teaching assumptions, not actual research or business results.
Define the audience's decision
The aim is to decide whether to continue a particular trial period, not simply to produce twenty weekly-report slides. Gather an approved statistical summary, observation notes, cost information and unresolved questions. Assign source identifiers and dates, separating facts, interpretations, assumptions and recommendations. If observations are missing, list the evidence required instead of asking a model to invent an attendance increase.
Agree on speaking time, page budget, language, destination software, company template and delivery formats. Back up a supplied template and inspect its masters, fonts, placeholders and protected elements. Provide only necessary authorized files, using sanitized copies of internal details. An editable deck, a distribution PDF and an online preview are separate deliverables.
Stage one: turn the topic into an evidence-backed outline
Write the requested decision in one sentence, then arrange the argument: why the trial began, what was observed, possible explanations, available options and the next decision. For every page specify the claim, evidence, visual form, source and speaking notes. A narrative-first English outline needs a coherent opening, argument and closing request; a fluent hook must not exaggerate what the evidence supports.
If the observations cover two weeks, label them as a two-week trial rather than proof of long-term demand. Keep limitations beside the relevant claims or on a clearly linked page. Challenge the outline with alternative explanations: did a special event affect evening attendance, are staffing costs complete, and which periods lack records? A compelling-looking chart cannot answer those questions by itself.
A bounded request is: “Use approved-summary.csv and notes.md. Return a page-level outline with a claim, source and missing-evidence list for every page. Add no unsupported figures. Preserve unknowns. Do not build the finished deck, contact anyone or publish.” Approve the outline and source index before expanding the prose. This avoids rebuilding the entire layout while the argument is still changing.
Stage two: map approved content to editable slides
Specify page objects before generation: headings, body text, tables, charts, source notes and speaker notes. A chart that will need updates should retain its underlying data and production method. A screenshot is not an editable chart. For a workbook, first establish the authorized range, formula-result handling and definitions rather than handing it to a tool with unspecified spreadsheet support.
For explicitly supplied sanitized local CSV, TSV or JSON files, Exploratory Data Analysis fits the pre-chart quality check: missingness, unusual values and distributions. Define the data root and output directory and provide its Python environment and required dependencies. It does not replace workbook-preserving edits, formula recalculation, causal analysis or slide generation. Keep the exploratory report separate from the reviewed chart dataset.
PptxGenJS is an open-source option for teams able to maintain a JavaScript generation workflow. Its MIT-licensed library creates PPTX text, shapes, tables, charts and other objects, with master-slide capabilities and examples. Reuse that existing capability rather than implementing a presentation format from scratch. Evaluate the selected version, environment and template mapping first. It is not a promise to import any company template with full fidelity, and this article has not installed or run it.
Generate a dense data page and an ordinary text page first. Open them in the destination application and check fonts, units, table completeness, editing behavior and notes. If a template must be recreated, disclose which styles were rebuilt and which objects were not retained. Visual similarity is not complete master preservation. Expand the rest only after accepting the sample, then confirm that every outline item appears somewhere in the output.
Worked example: keep the missing period visible
Suppose part of Friday evening lacks attendance records. Do not silently fill the interval with an average and draw a continuous line, or remove the date and claim that every evening period was stable. Mark the gap in both the input and the visual, and explain what can currently be concluded. Any approved imputation needs a stated method and a sensitivity comparison.
An options page can compare continuing the trial, changing the hours and pausing expansion. Show costs, dependencies and unknowns for each rather than selecting the most enthusiastic option automatically. The closing request identifies who will obtain which evidence and when the decision will be revisited. That is more actionable than ending with “continue optimizing.”
Add delivery constraints to the generation request: “Return the outline identifiers covered by each page. Report truncation, failed generation and missing images; placeholders are not finished work. Preserve the originals and write a new version. Mark untested Office or WPS environments pending rather than claiming compatibility checks passed.” The file manifest and generation report belong with the deck.
Stage three: polish without losing content
Unify heading levels, spacing, content boundaries, typography and color meanings before fine-tuning individual pages. Split a dense paragraph into a claim and evidence, moving necessary detail to notes or an appendix instead of shrinking all text. Preserve chart units, time windows and sources. Recoloring a series must not change what it represents.
Canvas Design is an optional fit for an original static PNG or PDF composition when a visual reference is actually needed. Provide dimensions, intended use and approved assets, with an agent capable of creating and inspecting files. Review font and bundled-resource licenses. The output is not editable PPTX, does not modify the existing deck and does not verify its data. Apply the visual rules through the presentation workflow after reviewing the reference.
Back up an existing deck before a redesign and maintain a page-level issue list. Separate advice from changes actually implemented. Compare numbers, conclusions, notes and objects before and after every reconstruction. A polish tool may change reading order or flatten a chart into an image; disclose that to the next editor instead of treating attractive thumbnails as completion.
Acceptance and frequently asked questions
Inspect every page at normal presentation size for missing glyphs, overflow, overlaps, cropping, chart labels and links, then inspect the PDF export. Test another presentation application when delivery requires it and record the actual version. A working HTML preview does not establish a working PPTX. An image-based backup may help display consistency but retain the editable master and explain the editing, search and accessibility tradeoffs.
Can the generated deck be used immediately? Check business language, figures and destination rendering first, keeping untested items pending. Will it preserve a company template? That depends on the tool and template; prove the required behavior on two sample pages rather than promising universal fidelity. Where do chart numbers come from? Authorized reviewed inputs, with missing values kept visible instead of invented.
Is it free? Package licensing, model usage, assets and third-party services have separate conditions. Why not link all six source-article skill names? The Chinese and English candidate lists differ, and their matching SkillPI installation records have not been verified here. This guide links only the relevant verified data-quality and static-visual capabilities. As the catalog grows, compare new candidates on the same sanitized outline and sample pages, verify inputs, outputs, prerequisites and access, then add them to the step they support. The deliverable is sourced content, an editable file and an acceptance record, not an attachment nobody has opened.
